The Williamsport Crosscutters have been promoting and encouraging reading to approximately 100,000 local students through the Grand Slam Reading Program for over 20 years. This program is designed as an incentive program to encourage students of all ages to read. By hitting a literacy home run, reading four books in four weeks, students are awarded two free tickets to a Crosscutters game. Each student who completes the program and attends a game is also put into a drawing to throw out the first pitch at a Cutters game. SCI has sponsored the program’s first prize for the past 8 years, consisting of a laptop, backpack, mouse, and other accessories.
